Bormio (SO)The building is arranged over five levels, starting from the underground parking floor, whose presence influenced the internal layout and defined the overall organization. The first two levels, basement and semi-basement, have independent access and are connected to the upper residential floors exclusively by an internal lift. From the outside, access is provided through a sequence of articulated stairways and pathways. The integration of the house into the mountain is emphasized by natural stone cladding at ground floor level. The two upper floors, on the other hand, open toward the surrounding green landscape and are clad in timber slats, establishing a visual and material dialogue with the environment.
The interiors are characterized by a refined use of natural materials, varying from level to level and alternating with black steel elements. The latter define the structural and visual identity of features such as the staircase, the living room shelving, and the fireplaces. Traditional material choices are contrasted by large glazed openings facing the valley. These are equipped with fully retractable shutters which, once opened, completely free the panoramic view. The view is further enhanced by contemporary glass balustrades set between timber elements, a modern reinterpretation of traditional mountain railings.
In contrast, the spa level, designed to offer greater privacy, features smaller openings in the form of narrow slits carved into the stone. The entire residence, rated A+++, is equipped with underfloor heating powered by a geothermal heat pump, ensuring comfort and sustainability.
